Average Daily Commute Times Average Daily Commute Times WNYC Mapping Project

Welcome.

According to The US Census, the average daily commute for those living & working in the United States is over 25 minutes.

If you're like us, you'd rather enjoy your time on the road to and from work. You'd like your daily commute to be fun, exciting, and entertaining ... as much as possible anyway.

We founded Buck The Commute to help every read find an excellent commuting experience. We drive cars, on our daily commute, and rate them. Each car is rated on: Fun, Practicality, & Performance, among other things.

BTC is not for those looking for the 'most' of any one thing. Want the 'most' practical? Find an electic-soccer-mom(or dad)-mini-van and good luck to you.

Our basic criteria for evaluating a new or used car for BTC is simple:

  • Does it show 'good enough' mileage? Usually 20mpg combined is our minimum 'good'.
  • No types of car are specifically off limits, but you'll mostly see compact, sub-compact, and small SUV type vehicles on our site.
  • Does the car (or SUV) offer anything beyond 'basic'? We like cars that at least try to be sporty, serve multiple purposes, show a little style, or have some type of aftermarket support.

If, like us, you enjoy driving...we invite you to explore the site, share with your friends, and help us grow. We promise to keep showing off the best of all the major brands: Ford, Chevrolet, GM, Nissan, Toyota, Volksagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Chrysler, and yes even Hyundai and Kia.

Join us, follow along, and find bliss in your daily commute.
